I wasn't born holding a camera. I didn't spend my childhood in a darkroom. I was actually off to a successful career in marketing when I decided to pursue photography full-time and take the plunge into self-employment. In 2006, while working as an Account Supervisor for an advertising and public relations firm, I started my photography business on the side. Within a year, the business was gaining momentum and I was spreading myself a little too thin. I took my husband's advice and quit my "real job," as he so eloquently put it.
My background in business and marketing enables me to offer my clients a unique perspective and vision for the images that I create for them. I am one of only thirty-three Certified Professional Photographers in Connecticut, as recognized by the Professional Photographers of America. J. Fiereck Photography is an official partner of the Hartford Business Journal, and a member of the Professional Photographers of America and the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association. Most recently, I was named a 40 Under Forty Award Winner by the Hartford Business Journal.
I graduated with a degree in Marketing & Communications from the University of Connecticut and am also a 2003 graduate of Leadership Greater Hartford's Quest Program. I live in Manchester in an old farmhouse with my amazing husband and two beautiful daughters, and our crazy dog, Maggie.
