2015 Hartford Business Journal 40 Under Forty Awards

One of the most fun and exciting events I cover for The Hartford Business Journal is the 40 Under Forty Awards dinner. It is an evening to celebrate Greater Hartford's up-and-coming, young business leaders. I was honored last year to be named part of the 2014 class, and I am happy to say, still under 40 (but not for too much longer)! This year's event once again, did not disappoint...read on to hear about the speeches, conga line and oh, yes...the marriage proposal!

The 2015 class of 40 Under Forty award recipients is a diverse group, but they all have a happy and giving spirit that is contagious. The awardees were given the opportunity to give a speech, but it came at a price. The first three words that they spoke were free, and then anything after that was $5 per word, which went to a local charity. This year's charity was the Urban League of Greater Hartford. This amazing group of people raised over $6,000 that evening.

The evening was marked by a number of animated and colorful acceptance speeches.

One of the awardees led his whole table via conga line up to the stage to accept his award.

This was a first in 40 Under Forty history. One of the awardees proposed to his girlfriend up on stage.

All in all, it was an amazing evening that celebrated some of our regions shining stars. I can't wait to see what next year's class has in store. Congratulations to this year's winners!
